I too received a call from indian Karen from PayPal stating there was not one, but two alleged fraudulent charges on my PayPal account. Both being $349.99.
A male jumped on the call stating he was from PayPal Security and needed me to listen to him and follow steps, asking me to first open any banking apps I have, along with my PayPal account.
I laughed and said no, I’m ok thank you, to which he started getting verbally aggressive and abusive.
I don’t even do PayPal, I wouldn’t even know what to do with it!
Received a call from this number. Heard a lot of background chatter. Female with heavy indian accent identified herself as “Karen from PayPal”.
“Karen” told me she was calling due to a suspicious charge of $349.99 on my account. She said it was urgent we rectify the charge and asked me to run and grab my Commonwealth Credit Card.
She then advised that there was another charge going through, and then her supervisor jumped on the line “John - Head of PayPal Security”
He said I needed to open my phone banking app and read out my card number, followed by amount available on my credit card.
I said I was fine and didn’t need to go through this. The couple both got aggressive towards me. I also heard other people in the background yelling - so can o my image they were yelling at others they were on the phone with.
I told them I don’t have an account with Commonwealth, nor do I have a PayPal account, so had no idea why they were calling me.
He yelled that I was a liar, so I hung up and blocked.
This call was a scam related to PayPal. I advise everyone not to answer or accept any calls from this number.
