What Our Users Reviewed
I am receiving daily calls from various unknown numbers. My phone marks them as potential spam, which is why I choose not to answer. Based on the comments I’ve seen, this seems to be the wise choice. Even when I block one number, another similar one calls the next day, which is incredibly frustrating.
I suspect this is a phishing scam. Similar to previous reports, the caller uses a recorded message claiming that my phone service will be terminated, yet they do not mention any specific carrier. The message also includes a part in Chinese. This appears to be from the same individuals involved in passport and visa phishing scams in both English and Chinese.
Scam call - immigration office…. Chinese translation after the pre recorded message.
An automated voice claimed to be from the Department of Immigration, stating that I had been contacted multiple times and had documents to discuss. They instructed me to press 1 for English or 2 for Chinese, after which an automated Chinese voice began speaking. I hung up immediately as it appeared to be a scam.
I didn’t answer this call, but since others on this site have labeled it a scam, I am inclined to think it might be one as well.
The call was made in Chinese, and it gave me the impression that it's likely a scammer trying to solicit something from me.
