    Spam caller, also called soon after from (02)7238 0712. Both numbers show calling from Sydney NSW, which is highly unlikely.

    I rang this number back after missing the call and was greeted by a woman with a steep asian accent. She spoke very quickly and told me (as I much as I could understand her) that she was from a Phone Company (Didn't get the name) and she was ringing because we had been chosen to receive a Smart Phone. I told her that we already have smart phones and hung up. I suspect this was an attempt to gain personal and financial information under the guise of purchasing a new phone so I'm writing here to warn others if they receive a call from this number.

    The female caller (with a very steep Asian accent) claimed to be from a phone company (didn't get the name). She said that we had been chosen to receive a Smart phone. I told her we already had smart phones and hung up. I believe this was an attempt to gain personal and financial information under the guise of purchasing a mobile phone. Please regard this number with suspicion.

    Unknown caller who didn't leave a message. Likely a telemarketer or a scam.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
