    Sick of these people calling when I have repeatedly asked them not to.

    Signed the petition to help keeping care flight in my area (rural NSW) and now I'm getting randomly called from them. Rings a couple of times and hangs up. No messages left. Think they are calling to collect donos to keep the flights going. Reported as spam.

    It's Careflight. A not-for-profit that calls up after you try for the 'free bear' deal they have. Not a problem, just annoying if you were hoping they'd email for a donation instead.

    SUGGESTION FOR CAREFLIGHT: leave a message if no one answers your call, not just a ten second session of heavy breathing! Also, if you sent me an email, I would have donated.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
